The Consultation

Initially I will take a case history from you about your horse or pony. I will want to know details of any current concerns and previous problems. I will also ask about the working history of the horse and any upcoming events.

A detailed observation is completed at the walk and trot before analysing the state of muscles and joints.

I will discuss my findings with you, and also how I feel they are best addressed before starting any treatment.

Treatment will involve work through all four limbs, the pelvis, neck and back as necessary. Treatment techniques include the stretching of muscles and articulation and mobilisation of joints.

Throughout the consultation I will need someone to be present to walk and hold the horse.

Initial consultations take around 45 minutes to an hour, whilst follow-ups take around half an hour.

Depending on the circumstances I may advise exercises and follow-up treatment as necessary.

Your Veterinary

Please note: before a consultation I will need consent from your veterinary that your horse is suitable for treatment. Please call them to check before I come out. Osteopathy is not a replacement for veterinary care; if you are concerned for the health of your horse or pony, your first point of call should be your vet.
